Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai has ordered the arrest of Kandara MP Alice Wahome and his Kiharu counterpart Ndindi Nyoro over Murang’a chaos.

The two are accused of mobilizing goons who caused the violence that led to the death of two people in Kenol town on Sunday morning. Several other people were injured in the mayhem.

“The @IG_NPS has directed that Members of Parliament (MPs) Hon. Ndindi Nyoro and Hon. Alice Wahome to be tracked and arrested immediately for mobilizing goons who caused mayhem at Kenol this morning,” the National Police Service said in a tweet.

“Officers are also tracking down vehicles used to ferry youths who caused violence.”

The arrest order came hours after Mutyambai formed a taskforce consisting of the Director of Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) and two senior Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers to probe the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.

The ugly fracas erupted ahead of Deputy President William Ruto’s visit to the area for a fundraiser at Kenol AIPCA Church.

The clash involved a group of youths supporting President Kenyatta against another that backs DP Ruto. Police officers were forced to use tear gas to disperse the rowdy youths.
