How to Successfully Transfer Motor Vehicle Ownership (Logbook Transfer) on NTSA Portal

For starters, NTSA a system in place called Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS). The system is designed to help on the online transfer of motor vehicle. The buyer and the Seller should create an account on TIMS he she if you don't have one by visiting www.timsvirl.ntsa.go.ke Here is how to go about it:

PART 1: The SELLER'S Procedure (Transfer of Vehicle Ownership)

✓ Click on vehicle registration, then proceed to apply for transfer of ownership.
✓ Click on create new button, type the registration number of the vehicle you want to transfer and click on inquire button.
✓Upload a scanned copy of the logbook in pdf format.
✓Input the I.D Number AND KRA PIN of the buyer and click on the add button.
✓Tick on the disclaimer button.
A code with be sent to your phone or email
✓Click next, add the page shows the basic information of the vehicle to be transferred including the new owner details
✓ Then submit the application
✓ Make the payments via MPESA, credit or prepaid card or pay cash any KCB and submit the application.

PART 2: The BUYER'S Procedure (Acceptance/Decline of Ownership)

✓ The Buyer, therefore, needs to log into his NTSA TIMS account to either Accepts or decline the transfer. Once the Seller submits his/her request from their end, the Buyer will receive an SMS notification to accept the vehicle transferred on his/her account.
✓ Click on the ACCEPT OWNERSHIP button and enter the
registration number then click on inquire followed by the view button to see the vehicle’s particulars.
✓ Under security verification menu, select the verification mode as mobile and click the send button to the buyer’s phone.
✓Enter the Verification code received in the field provided.
✓ If you ACCEPT, proceed to fill out the details required, the click on the submit button for the information to be sent to NTSA for processing and issuance of a logbook in at least seven (7) working Days.

NB.You will be required to surrender the old logbook
 
You will be required to apply for forced transfer but first you should have the Motor Vehicle sale agreement between you and the seller then Go to DCI office for tape lifting so that you can be allowed to apply for the transfer
