How to Check ID Status Online or By SMS after Application

Did you apply for an ID, or applied for a new ID card? There’s a way you can know the status and if it is ready for collection. You can check your ID status online or by SMS.

Here’s how:

Check Online​

To check your ID status online:

1. Go to http://www.identity.go.ke/search.html
2. Navigate to the national ID section and click on the ‘status’ button.
3. Enter the 9-digit serial number on your waiting card then click Enter.

The status of your ID will be displayed indicating whether the it’s ready to collect or not.

Check ID status via SMS​

The SMS option will cost you KSh 5 and may take up to 3 days to receive a reply. Follow these steps:

1. Compose a new message to 20031.
2. Enter the 9-digit serial number on your waiting card in the text field then send the message.

The reply will notify you whether the card is ready for collection or not.
