The Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) plans to acquire additional land for the ongoing dualling project of the Mombasa-Mariakani Road. The National Land Commission (NLC) is carrying out this acquisition on behalf of KeNHA. Details regarding the land acquisition were published in a notice in the Kenya Gazette on April 30.
The notice provided updates on specific parcels of land. It indicated the deletion of four previously listed parcels (MN/V/2028, MN/V/412R, MN/V/3070, and MN/V/1884), totaling approximately 13 acres.
Additionally, KeNHA modified the acquisition notice for four other land parcels (MN/V/2856, MN/V/2857, MN/V/2804, and MN/V/2858), which together total 7.5 acres.
Five more parcels of land (MN/VI/4786 (MN/VI/2842/2/4), MN/VI/4786 (MN/VI/2842/2/2), MN/V/2689, MN/V/2379, and MN/V/2626), amounting to about 5.7 acres, were listed as corrigendum, meaning they were fully corrected.
Plans for the affected land parcels can be reviewed during office hours at the National Land Commission office on the 3rd Floor, Room 305, Ardhi House, 1st Ngong Avenue, Nairobi, or at the NLC County Co-ordinator’s Office in Mombasa County.
KeNHA also announced that hearings for claims related to compensation for the mentioned land would take place later in May at different locations and on specific dates.
The schedule for the compensation hearings is as follows:
- On Tuesday, May 20, starting at 10:00 am at the Changamwe Chief’s Office, hearings will be held for land titles MN/VI/4786 (MN/VI/2842/2/4) and MN/VI/4786 (MN/VI/2842/2/2).
